Our Story

A Partnership in Dance, Learning and Possibility.

We’re Robert Tang and Beverley Cayton-Tang.

For more than 25 years, we’ve been partners in life, dance and business — discovering along the way that the most meaningful lessons often extend far beyond the dance floor.

Where It Began

Our journey together has taken us from competitive ballroom dancing to teaching, entrepreneurship and community building.

As three-time Canadian and two-time North American ballroom champions, we’ve experienced the discipline, creativity and partnership that dancing demands.

But our most rewarding experiences haven’t necessarily involved trophies.

They’ve come from watching people discover confidence, build friendships, overcome uncertainty and experience something they never imagined they could do.

Building danceScape

In 2000, we co-founded danceScape with a simple belief: dancing should be accessible, enjoyable and meaningful.

Over the years, our work has expanded from ballroom and Latin dancing into wedding dance, fitness, mindful movement, community events and facilitator development.

Through danceScape, we’ve met people of different ages, cultures, backgrounds and abilities.

Each has taught us something about learning, relationships and the human capacity to grow.

What Dancing Has Taught Us

Dance is a remarkable teacher.

It teaches us that leadership requires listening. That partnership depends on trust. That timing can matter as much as technique.

It reminds us that learning is rarely linear and that progress often begins when people feel comfortable enough to experiment.

We’ve come to see these lessons as relevant not only to dancing, but to entrepreneurship, mentoring, community leadership and creative collaboration.

Our Next Chapter

As we look toward 2027, we’re extending our work in new directions.

We’re developing facilitators who can bring movement and connection into more communities.

We’re exploring opportunities to mentor emerging leaders and entrepreneurs.

And through the Creative Leadership Lab, we’re bringing people with different experiences and capabilities together to discover what they might create.

We’re still learning, still experimenting and still asking questions.

Perhaps that’s what makes this chapter especially interesting.

Reimagining Mentoring

We don’t believe mentoring needs to follow a rigid hierarchy.

Experience has value. So does curiosity. So do fresh perspectives, emerging technologies and the willingness to question established assumptions.

Sometimes we guide. Sometimes we collaborate. Sometimes we’re the ones learning.

Our hope is to create relationships in which people can contribute meaningfully, develop their capabilities and discover new possibilities together.
